This is a great alternative to dial-in numbers, conference PINs, etc. - I can use any meeting platform I want and connect my laptop directly to the Polycom phone in our conference room. While it does feel a bit high-priced, it works well so I cannot complain too much.If your laptop has a combined headphone/microphone jack, fear not! You can use something like this DuKabel

to combine the headphone and microphone cables into the combined 3.5mm jack.
It works well with laptops and desktops running Windows 7 amp; 8.1, but it is a bit short for our needs, so had to buy 2 extension cords - 1 for mic, 1 for speaker.
Really you just have to be sure this is for your project, apparently there is another Soundstation2 version that has a different pole arrangement than this one.This worked with my: Soundstation2 Expandable - Part No.: 2201-16200-001Hope this helps!
